Another road rage case: 3 held for assault
Three persons have been arrested for allegedly shooting at a man and attacking three others with iron rods after their cars collided on the road between Jat Khor and Katewara in outer Delhi district, police said today.
Manjeet, Sudhir and Ajay were arrested on a complaint by one Neeraj who, along with his three friends, collided with the arrested persons' head on, a senior police officer said.
The trio got out of their car and smashed windows and windshield of the victim's car and also beat up the occupants with iron rods and a baseball bat.
They even turned the car on its side on the road from Jat Khor to Katewara Delhi, the officer said.
"When Neeraj tried to escape from the car, Manjeet shot him in his right thigh," said P Karunakaran, ACP, Outer District, adding he was later taken to Maharshi Balmiki hospital at Pooth khurd.
Police arrested the accused persons along with the weapon of offence within ten hours of the incident.
Police also recovered a 9-mm pistol, a damaged baseball bat and an iron pipe used in the crime. The three arrested do not have a criminal record, Karunakaran said.
Manjeet, 25, is a resident of Madanpur Dabas and a property dealer by profession while 19-year-old Sudhir is unemployed and Ajay, 20, is an employee of a toll collection company.
