Anti-party activities irk tarun gogoi
Bogged down by growing anti-party activities of a section of Congress legislators, Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi here on Wednesday said that he would be talking to party high command in this regard very soon.
Asserting that he was not hankering to remain the chief minister, Mr Gogoi told reporters, “I have been given to understand that 10 Congress legislators have written letter to the Congress president complaining against me. If it is true, I am always ready to quit the office. I am planning to meet the party high command soon to check the veracity of any such letter.”
Visibly upset over media reports, Mr Tarun Gogoi, however, said, “Such dissident activities are not new to me. In fact, some of the leaders, reportedly leading such move, have been conspiring against me for long. They fielded candidate against me in one of the organisational elections in which I was elected president of Assam Congress.” The chief minister said, “Tarun Gogoi doesn’t care for such things.”
