Anti-tobacco warnings in cinemas set to be changed
The anti-tobacco health spots displayed at the beginning and middle of the films displaying tobacco products or their use are all set to be changed. With the health ministry getting views from the producers that the existing spots are losing its value, the health ministry is considering to get them changed.
The health ministry has asked technical experts which are working with the World Lung foundation to give new options. The message, according to the health ministry, has to be hard hitting and clear. “Once these spots are ready, we will go to the channels and TV producers and the Central Board of Film Certification so that the existing ones can be changed,” sources in the ministry revealed. The spots will be prepared in all languages, and will not only be new but even the pictures will be changed.
“This is to maintain its recall value. We have made it clear to the experts that the spots should convey the message forcefully. They will be accepted on the ground of quality. They should be hard hitting,” added sources.
