AP police, Maharashtra ATS arrest 4 Maoists
In a joint operation with the AP police, the Maha-rashtra anti-terrorism squad on Friday arrested four Naxals including two women from Dombivali and recovered from them over Rs 23 lakh cash, laptops, pen drives and books on manufacturing weapons.
The quartet was involved in procuring equipment for their cadres in the forests.
They also used the Dombivali premises for the medical treatment of their dalam members.
The Thane unit of the ATS arrested Dinesh Wankhede, 30, Suman Gawde, 40, Paru Patel, 40, and Asimkumar Bhattacharya, 65, from a flat in Dombivali where they were living since October 2011.
Wankhede, Gawde and Patel were the area committee members of the Korchi dalam in Gadchiroli. Wankhede was earlier also a member of Thanapur dalam in Adilabad in AP. Bhattacharya had given refuge to the three since October 2011.
“Wankhede was wanted in a 2007 case where he had fired at a policemen at Paroda police station in Gadchiroli. In 2005, he was also wanted in a case under the Arms Act registered in Nagpur,” said ATS chief Rakesh Maria.
