AP student abducted, gangraped
Kurnool: A 20-year-old nursing student was allegedly gang-raped by a group of men after they forced her to drink alcohol on the outskirts of Kurnool on Wednesday night.
The unconscious victim was found abandoned next to a bush near an engineering college at Peddatekur by a police patrolling party at around 3 am on Thursday. Till Thursday evening, she had not recovered enough to give a police statement.
Police sources said that the woman, who is from Darshi in Prakasam district, had done a nursing course from a private nursing college at Nandyal Road in Kurnool district the last year.
She had come to Kurnool with her cousin, who is studying nursing at the same college, from Kolar, Karnataka, two days back to fill forms for a re-exam as she had failed a subject.
On Wednesday at about 10 pm, the victim left the hostel for her native village and boarded an autorickshaw to go to the Kurnool station. The driver, however, took a different route and drove towards Peddatekur.
The driver was then joined by three others and they took the victim near a thorny bush near the Brindavan Engineering College. She was forced to drink alcohol after which they gangraped her, police sources said. They believe the three had either got into the auto or followed in another vehicle.
The victim was found by the police in an unconscious state at the deserted spot where she had lain for more than five hours, her clothes strewn around her. She was rushed to the Kurnool general hospital.
