Armed men hold family hostage; loot jewellery, cash

Jaipur: Six armed robbers allegedly looted jewellery worth lakhs of rupees and Rs 35,000 in cash after holding six members of a family hostage in Malviya Nagar locality here in the wee hours on Wednesday, police said.

"The robbers entered the house at around 2 am and held the family hostage. The family members were also beaten up by the assailants who decamped with jewellery worth lakhs of rupees," Jaipur police commissioner, Mr B.L. Soni, said.

The robbers also took away Rs 35,000 in cash, another police officer said. No breakthrough had been made so far and investigation into the matter was on, Mr Soni said.
