Army Chief Gen Singh visits South Western Command
On a visit to the South Western Command here, Army Chief Gen. V. K. Singh on Saturday reviewed the operational preparedness and interacted with the officers.
Singh arrived on Friday with his wife Bharti on a two-day visit. The army chief interacted with officers of the Jaipur Military Station and emphasised the importance of remaining focused on the job at hand while preparing for all contingencies.
Bharti interacted with the families in the military stations during the visit. The army chief and his wife later returned to the capital. Singh will leave for an official tour of Britain from February 13 to 17.
Gen Singh yesterday lost his legal battle on the age row in the Supreme Court which said the government decision on his date of birth will apply for his service matters, forcing him to withdraw his petition.
The court refused to interfere with May 10, 1950 as his date of birth maintained in the service record by which he will have to retire on May 31 this year.
