Asha turns 78, to celebrate with family
Singing legend Asha Bhosle turned 78 on Thursday and would like to keep it a private affair by celebrating it with her family and grandchildren over dinner.
"Ashaji has been extremely tied-up post the shooting of 'Maaee'. She was busy with the dubbing of the film, which is now complete. She is now looking forward to celebrate her birthday with her family and grandchildren. She likes being low-profile on her birthday and hence it will be a private affair," the singer's publicist told the media.
Asha has three children, Hemant, Varsha and Anand Bhosle and five grandchildren.
Asha, who has sung more than 12,0000 in 18 languages, including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, English, Russian, Czech, Nepali and Malay, is the younger sister of India's Nightingale Lata Mangeshkar.
Apart from her music endeavours, Asha, who is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilain awarde, is excited about her acting debut in ‘Maaee’.
"This year for her birthday she has gifted herself a new phase in her career and looks forward to the release of the film later this year," said the publicist.
‘Maaee’ has been directed by Mahesh Kodiyal and produced by Subhash Dawar and Nitin Shankar. The film, which also stars Padmini Kolhapure as Asha's daughter, is the story of a woman who goes on to live with her daughter and son-in-law after being abandoned by her only son.
