Assam: Block officers working as Congress agents, says AGP
Even after repeated reminders by the Chief Election Commission of India to transfer officers serving for more than three years at one place, the AGP has cliamed that the state government authorities have been hiding information on the posting of junior officers in Assam.
Claiming that extension officers of the block development are acting as Congress agents, the Nagaon district Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) said, “We have lodged specific complaints against officers who are helping the candidates of the ruling party, but no action has been taken yet.”
AGP leader Abdul Mannan of Nagaon district said, “Extension officers of Bajiagaon Development Block, Ainul Haque Mulla and Saruddin Miyan of Laokhowa Development Block have been sitting pretty on their posts for over 10 years. Why haven’t they been shifted? They are acting as Congress workers and backing Congress’ Samagiru candidate.”
The AGP leader also accused Election Commission of failing to take action against the Circle Inspector of Samaguri police station, against whom the party had sent a complaint to the EC.
Mr Mannan further said that the officer was transferred to CID given his dubious character, but some memebers in the influential circle of the ruling party got him transferred to Samaguri, where he is now working to support the Congress candidate.
