Assam Cong MLA ‘assaulted’ by CRPF personnel

Assam Congress MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi, who is one of the most vocal leaders of the dissident camp, here on Friday alleged that CRPF personnel assaulted him when he went to inquire about the kidnapping and subsequent release of two garden workers of his constituency in Upper Assam’s Jorhat district.

Soon after Mr Kurmi accused of being assaulted by the CRPF, his supporters started attack on private vehicles coming from Nagaland and blocked the highways connecting Nagaland.
Supporters of the Congress MLA also staged a sit-in protest in front of the Moriani police station accusing the police of targeting the MLA deliberately.
