Assam youth runs barefoot for record
A 22-year-old youth from Assam, Abhijit Baruah, on Tuesday staked claim for entry into the Guinness Book of World Records by completing a historic barefoot run for about 153 km within 24 hours.
In presence of Mr B.K. Chandrasekhar Tiwari, the Indian observer for the Guinness Book, Mr Baruah had started gruelling run on Monday at about 3.56 pm which concluded on Tuesday.
Mr Baruah, working with the Assam police as constable, succeeded in creating first of its kind record. “As the Guinness Book does not have any record of any individual running such a distance barefoot, this was in itself a world record,” said Mr Tiwari.
