Assets case filed against Ketan Desai
The CBI has registered a disproportionate assets case against tainted former chairman of the Medical Council of India (MCI), Ketan Desai, and his family members. So far, the CBI has recovered unaccounted assets to the tune of Rs 24 crores.
More than 150 complaints alleging that the MCI was involved in wrongdoing have also been received by the CBI, which had asked the individual and medical institutes to come up with their complaints in the matter on its website.
Talking to reporters here on Thursday, CBI director Ashwani Kumar said that the assets worth Rs 24 crore has been seized so far, some of which are in possession of his mother and also his wife. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and other IPC sections has already been registered by the CBI against Desai, for allegedly accepting bribe.
