Assets more than `60cr seized from MP officer
Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta sleuths on Wednesday raided the official residence and other premises of chief conservator of forest B.K. Singh at Ujjain and seized huge amount of cash, gold, silver and documents showing assets worth over `60 crore.
This is the biggest seizure of wealth and assets by the state Lokayukta from any Indian Forest Service officer posted in the state. According to information received here, Dr Basant Kumar Singh was stopped when he was trying to leave his house with a brief case loaded with cash by the Lokayukta team when it reached there on Wednesday morning. In a simultaneous raid, jewellery and documents were also seized from the forest officer’s residence in the state capital.
A Lokayukta source told this newspaper that in Wednesday’s raids, they have seized bank FDs for `50 lakh, huge quantity of gold and silver, and documents showing investment in hundreds of acres of land hotels and other property.
In a separate raid on Tuesday, the special police establishment of Lokayukta had seized cash, assets and documents showing possession of assets to the tune of over `40 crore from the Bairagarh house of senior clerk of energy department Arjundas Lalwani.
