ATS arrests 1 more in Ajmer blast
The ATS has made one more arrest in the Ajmer blast case.
It has arrested Bharat Rateshwar of Gujarat, whose name was figured as a witness in the Ajmer blast. The agency had listed his name as a witness while it filed chargesheet against Devendra Gupta, Lokesh and Chandarshekhar in 2010. But when the ATS further extended its probe, it arrested Bharat for his active involvement in the blast.
Meanwhile, The ATS produced Aseemanand before a local court in Ajmer on Saturday and he has been remanded to the police custody till February 11.

BJP activists chop off teacher’s hair
Pune, Feb. 5: Activists of the BJP youth wing resorted to a novel protest here, cutting the hair of a teacher in a city school after over 60 students were made to chop off their hair in a disciplinary measure by its management.
A group of BJP yuva morcha workers led by Ganesh Ghosh staged a protest demonstration in the school premises Friday evening, condemning the management’s act in which the students sporting long hair were handed over to barbers who were asked to give them a “soldier cut” in keeping with the disciplinary norms. Ghosh said that the protest was organised after they received a complaint from some parents.

Girl accuses Army major of rape
Jaipur, Feb. 5: A fashion design student in the city has accused an Army major of drugging and raping her, the police said on Saturday. The girl alleged in an FIR lodged on Thursday that the accused invited her to a city hotel on the pretext of discussing their marriage proposal and then drugged and raped her.
The alleged incident took place in November 2010 after which The accused got married to another girl, the police said. “The family member of the girl claimed that the major’s family had approached them with a wedding proposal. After the families’ verbal commitment, the major called the girl to a hotel where he alleged drugged and raped her,” the police said.

Self-defence group by UP women

Feb. 5: Women in the rural interiors of eastern Uttar Pradesh have devised a new mechanism to fight against sexual harassment and exploitation at work and at home.
These women, living in different village of Gorakhpur district, have formed about 160 self-defence groups and carry sticks to fight against exploitation of any kind.
The groups, patterned on the famous Gulabi Gang of Bundelkhand, respond to complaints without delay.
Though these groups have not yet indulged in violence of any kind, they are known to intimidate offenders with their numerical strength.
