Attacked Tibetan: No reason to leave
Nineteen- year- old Tenzin Dhargyal from Tibet, who was stabbed on the eve of Independence Day in Mysore, has no plans to leave the city in a panic like many from the Tibetan settlements did a while ago as he doesn’t believe he is under any threat here.
“I will not go back to Tibet. I am not afraid of living in India or being in Mysore. There’s no reason to fear, as those who stabbed me are not my enemies,” said Tenzin, speaking to Deccan Chronicle from the Tibetan settlement hospital in Bylkuppe, near Hunsur, where he is still being treated for his injuries.
From Kham Lithang in Tibet, Tenzin is the son of Thuntsok Tsering and has two younger sisters, one whom is a nun.
“I was shocked by the attack as I don’t have any enemies anywhere in India,” he admitted, recalling that his attackers came on a bike and stabbed him after he had picked up a water bottle from the Tibetan restaurant near Dhanvantri road and was looking for an auto.
“Suddenly I was stabbed from behind and I rushed back to the Tibetan restaurant, hoping for medical assistance.
I didn’t even see the faces of the men on the bike as I was only intent on getting help,” he recounted, adding, “I’m doing well now. Everything is alright. There is no need to worry.”
A class XII student of the SoS TCV boarding school in Bylkuppe, he is determined to complete his BCA and fulfill his dream of becoming a software engineer.“I will return to Tibet only after I complete of my studies,” he said firmly.
