Aussie, 2 kids among 7 dead in express fire
Seven passengers, including an Austra-lian woman and two children, were charred to death after a fire erupted in two AC coaches of the Dehra Dun-bound Doon Express in Jharkh-and’s Giridih district early Tuesday. Railway minister Dinesh Trivedi said miscreants could be responsible.
The fire erupted in B-1 AC coach and spread to B-2 AC coach around 3 am, and was spotted between Gomo and Nimiaghat stations.
The Australian woman was identified as S.K. Allone, alias Kati Scanlan, DRM (Dhanbad) Sudhir Kumar said. Three other Australian women travelling with her were injured. All of them were researchers heading for Bodh Gaya.
The two children killed were Archita Thakur, 4, and Mahjuvi Ali Akhtar, 8. Two of the other victims were Anumita Singh, 25, and Usha Nagar.
