Autopsy says no external injuries
There are no external injuries on the bodies of the three minor sisters who were allegedly raped and murdered in Murmadi village in the nearby Bhandara district in Maharashtra, stated their autopsy report. The bodies were found floating in a 10 feet-deep well, some three km from their residence two days after a missing persons’ complaint was registered.
The Bhandara police has set up 10 teams, each with three to four officers to expedite the investigation. Superintendent of police, Arti Singh said, “We have detained two men and they are being questioned. A reward of `50,000 has also been announced for any person who helps us nab the accused.”
Deputy superintendent, Abhinav Deshmukh said, “There are no external injuries and the cause of death has not been determined. The bodies have now been sent to Bhandara Hospital for further tests. We will also take help from the forensic lab.”
Special inspector-general Rajendra Singh of the Nagpur zone added, “We even suspended inspector Prakash Munde, in charge of the Lakhani police station, as he did not investigate a few leads in the case.” The girls were found in their uniforms and the autopsy report stated there were injuries on their private parts, based on which the rape section had been added. Sub-inspector A.H. Bariya of Lakhani police station, who was investigating the missing case, said, “The eldest sister (aged 11 years) had bunked school on the fateful day. The three of them had then left together for school at around 10.30 am, which is barely 400m from their home.”
