Autopsy shows no foul play
The autopsy report of Delhi gangrape accused Ram Singh suggests that he committed suicide and died due to hanging. Ruling out foul play as claimed by his family, doctors conducting the post-mortem said his clothes were intact and there were no injuries that suggested a scuffle or beating. The entire post-mortem procedure was videographed and several still photographs taken of each state of internal and external examination.
Sources at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where the post-mortem was done, said preliminary investigations indicated “it was a case of hanging — (that is) generally suicidal in nature unless there is any contradictory medical finding (or) injury is seen on the body. Thorough examination of the vulnerable area and parts of the body like sole, back of thigh, buttock, flexor aspect of the palm of the hand... mouth, nostrils, eyes as well as internal viscera... did not find anything contradictory like a scuffle or physical body violence.”
Ram Singh, who was being tried with four other accused before a fast-track court for the horrific December 16 Delhi gangrape, was found hanging in his Tihar Jail cell early Monday morning.
