Ayesha Takia, Sidhartha Mallya in Twitter war

All of it started with Bollywood actress Ayesha Takia tweeting frantically about Kingfisher Airlines’ staff misbehaving with her sister Natasha Takia at New Delhi Airport.

Her tweets read, "The worst airline, kingfisher!!!shockingly baddddddddddd airport staff behavior at delhi airport with my sister.

“This disgustingly behaved kingfisher staff called Vinay podwal just tore my sisters boarding pass n misbehaved with her!!!!

“Can't believe thisssss!!! I'm in mumbai n I wish I was there rite now 2!soooo angry!!

How can this happen!!!how dare this vinay podwal misbehave with a passenger and tare her boarding pass,it cud b any one of u!!think about it.

“I will tweet and tell ul the whole story in a bit,2 angry n upset rite now!this just happend!!I wanted u alllllll 2 no!

“My heart is beating so fast with anger that a girl at an airport gets treated this way by airport staff! he is at the kingfisher counter.

“She is unwell and has a horrible backache, can't believe this happend 2 her rite now!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Is this how a girl alone at an airport gets treated by the staff of the airline she is flying?!?!?!?

“Vinay podwal at delhi airport, kingfisher staff just threatend and yelled at my sister saying he can throw any1 out n TORE her boarding pass!

“She is unwell n tired n hurt from being mistreated n threatend..I'm shocked!

“We r goin 2 take serious action against this and go 2 court with it,let the law handle it,so that this dosent happen 2 any girl again!"

Users soon took notice and news went places in no time. Some of them also reached Sidhartha Mallya (@sidharthamallya) as retweets, son of Kingfisher Airline’s owner Vijay Mallya.

He posted on the micro-blogging site, underplaying Takia’s worries, “Been getting retweets about Ayesha Takia & KFA. not too sure who she is, an actor of some sorts?? But it seems something has upset her!!”

He went on to post, “Don't know why Ayesha Takia is tweeting so much when she wasn't even present. There are always two sides to a story. Pipe down love.”

But the move proved costly for Junior.

All love for him disappeared and majority posted in favour of Ayesha Takia, encouraging her to take a legal step against the airlines. Ayesha too, kept retweeting the ones she got in favour of her.

She chose to react to what Sidhartha said: “Well any indian citizen can stand up for their rites if treated badly, and I don't have to be anyone u know sidharth mallya!!!!!!!!!!!!”

“u wern't there either so don't b condescending and defend ur freakin staff, first find out wot happend!u clearly r unaware of ALOT sidharth m!

“My sis is a normal indian girl traveling economy so ofcourse u won't giv a shit,I know the whole story coz it happend 2 my sister therefore.

“I will rant siddharth mallaya,,wot will u DO!!!!!this Is ur way of dealing with a hospitality buiseness!!!wow!!learn manners n respect!!!

The actress did not miss out on thanking her supporters saying, “I thank u all 4 ur support on this issue,v will b taking action asap.thank u all!!.#Justice

Both the names, of Sidhartha’s and Ayesha’s were trending in Twitter. Since most of the posts came supporting Ayesha, her name stayed in the trending topics even when Sidhartha disappeared from there.

The funny ones on Twitter made use of the situation. A user with the handle @WhyTheFace said, “What Deepika padukone couldn't do for 2 years!!! Ayesha takia did it in 5 mins.. Trend Siddharth mallaya on twitter!!!

Another one from @NigelBritto said, “So Siddharth Mallya, who's only famous for dating Deepika Padukone, says he doesn't know who Ayesha Takia is. LOL!

When contacted, the spokesperson of Airlines denied what Ayesha Takia let out. “We categorically deny that any of our staff misbehaved with this valued guest. We also deny that any of our staff tore her boarding card as alleged. The boarding card had in fact not even been handed over to the guest as she was waitlisted.”

He went on to add, “We regret any inconvenience that may have been caused to the guest on account of her missing her connecting flight”.

But, it did not stop there. The girls’ father, Nishit Takia on his Twitter id said all those statements from the Airlines were false. “How can the kingfisher make lie statements to the press. natasha travelled AI back to Mumbai due to this,” he tweeted.

“Natasha was booked in KF from Kathmandu to Mumbai. KF cancelled their flt and gave a bkg in AI. Not her fault AI was delayed.”

With all the debate and discussions, some were also worried about their money in the share market. One tweet from @DeeCosmos read, “I hear Sidhartha Mallya & Ayesha Takia had fight over some Kingfisher Airlines issue. My only concern will it affect the KF stock price tomo.”

Ayesha’s retwweting spree also got its share from Twitter users. @rohitnigam04 posted, “Whoever wants to see a RT from a celebrity, tweet anything / everything against sidhartha Mallya, Ayesha Takia is RTing senselessly :D :P.”

One has to wait and see what happens next.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
