Ayodhya seers want entire land

The high-powered committee of saints and seers, including VHP leaders, which met Wednesday in Ayodhya, rejected the idea of a division of the disputed Ram Janambhoomi land, and said they (Ram Lalla Virajman, one of the plaintiffs) would challenge the high court verdict in the Supreme Court. They appealed to Muslims to hand over their share for construction of the temple.

“This is a golden opportunity for Muslims to establish harmony and concede the land given to them. The disputed land (130 ft x 30 ft) is insufficient for a temple. Besides, we also cannot accept a mosque within the cultural limits of Ayodhya, also known as Ram Nagari,” a spokesman said.
A delegation of seers and VHP leaders is due to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh later this week to seek government intervention. “The government should use its legislative powers to ensure the entire land is given for temple construction,” senior VHP leader Ashok Singhal said.
