B’luru varsity prof abused

The officer on special duty (OSD) to the vice-chancellor of the Bangalore University, M.C. Radhakrishna, who is also chairman of the Centralised Admission Committee for PG courses, was allegedly manhandled and abused by a group of 20 men led by a Ph.D student of the history department last week in the presence of registrar B.C. Mylarappa and a professor of bio-chemistry N . Ramachandra-swamy.
The Ph.D student and a group of nearly 20 allegedly confronted Dr Radhakrishna last Thursday and Friday afternoon. They reportedly abused him and forcibly dragged him to Dr Mylarappa, demanding that he cancel the PG counselling on October 8 and 9. They also allegedly snatched two files on admissions from him and handed it to Dr Mylarappa and Dr Ramachandra Swamy who reportedly remained mute spectators while the students browbeat the OSD. In the midst of the ruckus, the registrar is said to have left saying he would be back in 10 minutes, but did not return.

CAT-2012 kicks off from today
age Correspondent
Hyderabad, Oct. 10

The Common Admission Test (CAT-2012) for admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and top B-Schools across the country will begin on Thursday.
The computer-based test will be conducted for 21 days till November 6.
Nearly 2.15 lakh candidates have registered for the test across the country, up by four per cent over last year. Some 55,000 students from Andhra Pradesh have registered for the test, the highest number in the last five years.
The test will be held in 36 major cities across the country.
“The most important thing for students appearing for the test is to carry their valid original photo ID to the exam centre, else they will be sent back. There were instances earlier when several students lost the chance to appear for CAT just because they failed to submit valid ID proof at the exam centre. The list of approved IDs is available on the CAT website,” said S. Ramnath, course director, TIME, a premier CAT training institute in the country.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
