Baba alleges plot to kill, targets Cong, to restart stir
Baba Ramdev on Sunday evening lashed out at the Congress and particularly targeted Mrs Sonia Gandhi for the “police barbarism” on his supporters, saying his agitation will continue from Hardwar. This was after he was reportedly turned away by the UP police and not allowed to proceed towards Delhi.
Earlier Sunday, he called the police action on women and children at the Ramlila Grounds a “blot on democracy”, and alleged there was a “conspiracy” by the Centre to get him killed. He claimed a threat was made to him at a meeting with senior ministers.
Ramdev was often near tears as he narrated what happened during the midnight crackdown. “The barbarism and atrocities inflicted by the police on one lakh people crossed all limits. Such atrocities were not seen elsewhere other than in China, where thousands were killed,” he said, referring to the Tiananmen Square massacre. “The satyagraha has not ended... The government must answer,” he added.
