Baba alleges plot to kill, targets Cong, to restart stir

Baba Ramdev on Sunday evening lashed out at the Congress and particularly targeted Mrs Sonia Gandhi for the “police barbarism” on his supporters, saying his agitation will continue from Hardwar. This was after he was reportedly turned away by the UP police and not allowed to proceed towards Delhi.
Earlier Sunday, he called the police action on women and children at the Ramlila Grounds a “blot on democracy”, and alleged there was a “conspiracy” by the Centre to get him killed. He claimed a threat was made to him at a meeting with senior ministers.
Ramdev was often near tears as he narrated what happened during the midnight crackdown. “The barbarism and atrocities inflicted by the police on one lakh people crossed all limits. Such atrocities were not seen elsewhere other than in China, where thousands were killed,” he said, referring to the Tiananmen Square massacre. “The satyagraha has not ended... The government must answer,” he added.

June 5: Civil society members of the Lokpal Bill joint working committee led by Anna Hazare announced a virtual walkout, saying until the government clarifies its position on six issues on which it sought the views of chief ministers and political parties, they will not attend its meetings, including the one scheduled on Monday. Mr Hazare also wants future meetings to be telecast live.
Anna Hazare also announced he will hold a day-long fast at Jantar Mantar on June 8 in protest against Saturday’s police high-handedness. When asked if was joining forces with Baba Ramdev, he said the yoga guru had to answer some questions first.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
