Baba’s gift: Rs 85-cr water project
The Satya Sai Trust will launch a new project at an estimated cost of Rs 85 crore to mitigate the drinking water problem in around 120 villages in Puttaparthi area.
This is to mark the occasion of Satya Saibaba’s 87th birthday.
Since many areas of Puttaparthi, Bukapatnam and Kothacheruvu of Anantapur district are suffering from a severe drinking water problem, Sri Satya Sai Central Trust plans to start another drinking water project, sources said.
This project is expected to be ready by next year, on Baba’s 88th birth anniversary.
The former chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, Dr Anil Kakodkar, will be the chief guest for the 31st annual convocation of Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, to be held at Sai Kulwanth Hall on November 22nd, trust sources said.
About 28 students will be awarded gold medals on the occasion.
Satya Sai Trust has been making elaborate arrangements to conduct the 88th birth anniversary of Satya Saibaba for which Tripura Governor D.Y. Patil will be the chief guest.
The APSRTC will be plying special buses to Puttapathi from Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bangalore and Chennai , Anantapur regional manager Yadagiri said.
