Baby alive after being thrown off footbridge
The police on Thursday arrested a Pune resident after he threw his seven-month-old son off a railway foot-overbridge in broad daylight on Wednesday afternoon. Miraculously, the baby fell 40 feet, landed on hard pebbles between two railway tracks, and still survived the fall with only scratches and cuts to his body.
According to the Pimpri police, the incident occurred late on Wednesday afternoon at the Pimpri railway station. The accused, Datta Deshmukh, 29, was having an argument with his wife. In a fit of rage, Deshmukh held Shubham over the railing and threatened to throw him off. “The spectacle attracted the attention of some passersby, who immediately rushed forward to try and dissuade him. Unheeding to their pleas, Datta threw Shubham off the overbridge. People immediately ran to the spot where Shubham landed, picked him up and rushed him to the YCM hospital in Pimpri,” said an officer with the Pimpri police.
