Bag with chemicals detected before being loaded on flight
A plastic bag containing chemicals with foul smell emanating from it was detected before it was about to be loaded on to a Kingfisher flight from here to Chennai before its departure on Sunday, airport sources said. Preliminary inspection revealed that the courier bag, delivered by Blue Dart, had bottles containing boric acid and some chemical liquid, the sources said. The baggage has been taken for detailed investigation and officials of the courier service and Hindustan Unilever Company, which supplied the baggage to Blue Dart were summoned to the airport, for clarifying contents of the baggage, the sources said. The Kingfisher IT-2482 flight left for Chennai after a delay of 15 minutes without the baggage, they said. Investigations had been launched to ascertain how the CIXL Xray screeners on duty failed to detect the baggage, the sources said.
