Bajrang Dal assaults couples near Bhopal

Bajrang Dal activists went berserk and assaulted romantic couples, including a young married couple at Manua-Bhan ki Tekri, a religious-cum-tourist site here on Tuesday. The police registered a case but no one had been arrested till Wednesday evening.

Without any warning, the Bajrang Dal activists stealthily landed at Manua Bhan ki Tekri on Tuesday afternoon and confronted the young couples, some of them teenagers, by slapping them, and beating them with lathis and blows. As they tried to escape, some Bajrang Dal activists physically caught the girls while the boys were thrashed. A married couple also became a victim of this violence. After the beating, the young couples were made to do sit-ups, holding their ears.
The Koh-e-Fiza police station here has registered an FIR against a dozen Bajrang Dal activists. Among those beaten up was a young man, who had gone to the Tekri along with his wife. The district convener of Bajrang Dal, Sushil Sudele, said after the incident that they had earlier appealed to the police to stop the entry of romantic couples.
