Bal justifies maha police action
After Raj Thackeray, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Monday took on the Bihar government for threatening legal action against the Mumbai police for arresting the Amar Jawan Jyoti memorial vandal from Bihar.
He said that Biharis living in Mumbai do not feel any attachment with vandal Abdul Qadir, but political leaders from Bihar have got agitated because their focus is the Muslim vote bank. However, the Sena chief did not support Raj and advised Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to not get involved in “such a trivial controversy”.
Referring to the letter written by chief secretary of Bihar threatening to take action against Mumbai police if it arrested anybody from Bihar without intimating the local superintendent of police, Mr Thackeray said that the Bihar government should have congratulated the Mumbai police.
“Mumbai police arrested Abdul Qadir, who had vandalised the Amar Jawan memorial, from Bihar. The Bihar CM should have congratulated Mumbai police as this Qadir might have carried out similar acts in Bihar also. But what happened was exactly the opposite. If such a dreaded criminal represents Bihar’s pride, then I have nothing to say about it,” Mr Thackeray said.
