Bandh affects 238 trains

Thursday's bandh called by political parties to protest against FDI in retail and hike in diesel prices affected services of more than 200 trains across the country.

"Services of 238 trains were disrupted due to the Bharat bandh," said a senior Railway Ministry official.

A maximum number of 57 trains were affected in East Coast Railway followed by East Central Railway (40), Eastern Railway (32) and South Eastern Railway (26).

Northern Railway witnessed disruption of services of 29 trains in different parts of zone.

"There were blockades by bandh supporters on the tracks for which trains were held up for some time. But most of the trains resumed service after the lifting of the blockade," said a Northern Railway official.
