BCCI files swindling case against Modi
The BCCI on Wednesday lodged a complaint with the police against IPL former chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi alleging that he had misappropriated `468 crores.
BCCI honorary secretary and president-elect N. Srinivasan met Chennai police commissioner T. Rajendran at around 10 am and submitted a 25-page complaint. The BCCI alleged that Mr Modi misappropriated funds in allotting media rights, free commercial time and security.
“The complaint claims that Mr Modi had cheated the board of `425 crores in irregular distribution of media rights, `29 crores for allotting free commercial time and `14 crores in security-related matters,” said a police officer. The police commissioner said if the allegations were confirmed, Mr Modi may be called in for an inquiry. “The board has made allegations against six others apart from Mr Modi in the petition,” he said. “A case has been registered with the central crime branch and we will initiate investigations at the earliest.”
