Bench differs on Karnataka MLAs removal
Bangalore: A two-judge bench of the Karnataka High Court Monday gave a split verdict on the disqualification of 11 Bharatiya Janata Party legislators who had rebelled against Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa's leadership.
Chief Justice J.S. Khehar upheld the decision of Speaker KG Bopaiah to disqualify the legislators under the anti-defection law.
However, Justice N. Kumar quashed the Speaker's decision.
The issue of the 11 BJP MLAs will now come up before a third judge on October 20.
