Betting gang busted in nashik, 5 held
An IPL league betting syndicate has been busted in Nashik with the arrest of five high-profile persons. The Nashik crime branch led this raid and also seized 20 mobiles, three laptops and a TV. The raid was carried out at 10 pm on Wednesday.
The police said that they received a tip off that the betting on the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals was conducted in the house of Rajendra Devendra Savna ‘Sai Palace, Bunglow No 4, located opposite famous Durga Mandir on Mahatma Gandhi Road in Nashik Road.
While the match, won by tainted Rajasthan Royals was being played, the bookies were busy taking bets on the outcome when the police barged in. The raid was led by Crime Branch Unit 3 Police Inspector Sanjay Sanap. The amount of bets conducted have not been investigated yet.
Pravin Gopaldas Bhutada, Pankaj Vinod Somani, Sameer Mahendra Mantri and Ravi Namdeorao Dhage, all residents of Khamgaon in Buldhana and Main bookie Rajendra Devendra Savna of Nashik Road were arrested.
