Bhanwari case: cong suspends maderna

The ruling Congress has suspended Mahipal Maderna in the wake of the Bhanwari Devi case in Jodhpur. Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot had sacked Mr Maderna last month when he refused to resign after his name

cropped up the case. According to the PCC, he has been suspended with immediate effect. This was expected when a CD featuring him in a compromising position with missing nurse Bhanwari was aired by a channel. Mr Maderna has consistently denied his involvement in the alleged kidnapping of Bhanwari but her family had named him in the complaint. Mr Maderna’s wife Lila said if any party was found to be involved in framing them, it would cost the party dear.
