Bhanwari case hearing: CBI seeks extra security
The CBI on Friday requested Rajasthan government to provide adequate security during future court proceedings in the Bhanwari Devi murder case, following the sensational escape of Kailash Jakhar, a key accused in the case, from the police custody outside the court premises in Jodhpur on Thursday.
Sources said, “The agency has requested state government to provide adequate security during future court proceedings in the case. The CBI on Friday wrote a letter to the chief secretary and DGP of state in this regard”.
“We have also requested CS and DGP to take all possible measures to apprehend Jakhar and produce him before the court. The trial in the case will start after framing of the charges,” sources said.
The CBI probe into Bhanwari Devi murder case has already established that the body of the 36-year-old auxiliary nurse-cum-folk singer was set on fire in the desert near Jodhpur after she was allegedly murdered by a gang headed by Bishna Ram on September 1, 2011. The remains were later scattered in a nearby canal in an effort to destroy evidence and also to avoid detection by the investigating agency.
“Probe also revealed that Bishna Ram, prime suspect in the case who was carrying a cash reward of `5 lakhs on his head, along with his other associates — Kailash Jakhar and Omprakash — burnt Bhanwari’s body after her murder at a spot in Osian village in Jodhpur and then her remains were thrown in the canal”, sources said.
