Bhanwari sought `7cr to stay mum?
An audio clip of the telephonic conservation between missing nurse Bhanwari Devi and the sister of Congress MLA Malkhan Singh, Indira Bishnoi, reveals that Bhanwari had threatened that if her demand was not met, the Gehlot government will fall. It also reveals that the nurse sought `7 crores to keep mum. The tape, which is in possession of the CBI, shows how Bhanwari was trying to extort money.
The nurse was found speaking to Indira Bishnoi, saying “Kuchh nahi, Rajasthan me Gehlot sarkar ka takhta palat ho jayega, jis tarah se log hath dho kar peechhe pade hain (Nothing else, Gehlot government will lose power the way people are getting after on this)”.
Asked about the Bhanwari case, chief minister Ashok Gehlot said the matter was sub-judice and the high court was monitoring it. “It is a matter of concern how the abduction took place. Since the name of one ministerial colleague cropped up in the incident, we immediately recommended a CBI probe,’’ Mr Gehlot said while talking to media on Friday in Jaipur.
“You know, there is a procedure and it took 15 days for the CBI to begin investigation, he said.
The tape reveals how Bhanwari and Indira were talking about a deal. Bhanwari seemed angry and in an inebriated condition giving an ultimatum to sack minister Mahipal Maderna and threatened that otherwise she will make public what she had with her. The tape also mentions Sohanlal Bishnoi, a suspect in Bhanwari’s abduction case.
