‘Bhatkal in Bangla with ISI help’

Barely a day before top Lashkar-e-Tayyaba militant Abu Jundal’s remand with the special cell was to finish, he finally revealed that Yasin Bhatkal, one of the most wanted terrorists in the country and chief of the Indian Mujahideen, is now hiding in Bangl-adesh with the support of ISI.

Sources in central intelligence agencies claim that with this disclosure they have managed to get key information from Jundal and will now be following it up in what appears to be a long and tedious investigation.

Jundal, sources added, disclosed to a multi-agency probe team on Thursday that Bhatkal, who is suspected to have escaped from the country after intelligence agencies smashed IM’s Darbhanga module last year, was in constant touch with him during his stay in Saudi Arabia. The LeT operative has also provided details of emails and chat sites through which he was communicating with Bhatkal on a regular basis.

Indian agencies suspect that Bhatkal is constantly changing his location in Dhaka and Chhitagong where ISI operatives are helping him with logistics.

Jundal also told interrogators that IM founder Riyaz and Iqbal Bhatkal, who are now in Karachi, had directed Jundal to be in touch with Yasin for all anti-India operations. Yasin Bhatkal is the mastermind of all key blasts in the country in the last few years.

Sources claim that Indian agencies will soon contact their counterparts in Dhaka to seek assistance in nabbing Yasin Bhatkal.

There has been an increased cooperation between India and Bangladesh now on the key issues of terrorism as after the Delhi high court blast in September last year, the key accused, Wasim Akram, was also nabbed with assistance from the neighbouring country.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
