Bhujbal denies graft allegationUmesh Mohite
PWD minister Chagan Bhujbal on Tuesday denied the allegations of corruption against him and said that the inspection by the charity commissioner of the Mumbai Education Trust premises was a routine exercise. He blamed the media for blowing the things out of proportion.
“It was a routine inspection. But the way it was blown out of proportion with news published without verification, one gets the impression that we were guilty of some massive fraud. It was a routine procedure followed by the charity commissioner,” said Mr Bhujbal.
One of the founder members and director of the trust Sunil Kedar made allegations that the Bhujbals were misusing the trust property.
According to Mr Kedar’s complaint, while the trust was meant for educational purposes, the eighth and tenth floor of the Bandra building was used commercially as well as for residential purposes by the Bhujbals.
Mr Bhujbal said that everyone including the media knew that he and his family stayed at the official residence Ramtek. He added that there was no need for him or any of his family members to live in the MET building. Mr Kedar had also alleged that the MET building housed a showroom, which that Mr Bhujbal denied.
