Big crowd at MLA’s cremation
Slain Bihar BJP legislator Raj Kishore Kesri’s funeral in his hometown Purnea was on Wednesday attended by over 15,000 people and shops in Purnea and nearby small towns remained shut, reflecting the popularity of the leader who was killed by a lady teacher’s public knife attack on him a day ago.
Senior leaders of Bihar’s ruling BJP, including deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi and animal husbandry minister Giriraj Singh, attended the funeral conducted with full state honours on the banks of the Kosi river. Chief minister Nitish Kumar, currently mourning his mother’s demise, could not attend but he sent a wreath to be placed on the body.
