Bihar, Centre, clash over Patna airport
The Bihar government has joined issue with the civil aviation ministry over removal of air safety obstacles at the Patna airport, pointing out that much of the action sought by the ministry has to be taken at the civil aviation ministry’s initiative. Expressing surprise over a recent communication by the DGCA, the Bihar government has now written to the ministry following a high-level meeting held at Patna.
The Bihar government has pointed out that so far as pruning of tree-tops is concerned, the Bihar government will complete the pruning within two weeks. It has also pointed out that pruning of tree-tops has been done even earlier by the Bihar government. The DGCA’s view is that the growing height of the trees at the botanical garden next to the airport could pose a hazard for aircraft wanting to land at Patna. The Bihar government’s communication mentions the issues of presence of railway high-tension equipment in the south-western direction.
