Bihar Cong MLAs meet governor
Maintaining a politically correct distance from the RJD while supporting that party’s aggressive stand in the wake of the alleged “treasury scam,” Bihar’s Congress MLAs on Friday met governor Devanand Konwar and demanded the dismissal of the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government.
Like the legislators of the RJD and all other Opposition parties, who had met the governor on Thursday, the Congress MLAs argued in their memorandum that the Nitish Kumar government must be immediately dismissed due to the alleged financial irregularities worth Rs 11,412 crore. Bihar Congress president Choudhary Mehboob Ali Kaiser, who was part of the delegation, said the governor gave the MLAs a patient hearing.
Inside the Assembly, the Congress MLAs, including Mr Chaudhary and Legislature Party leader Ashok Kumar, also set off a ruckus while demanding revocation of the suspension of 67 Opposition legislators. Congress MLAs like Sunila Devi and Sunita Devi pulled the reporters’ desk while others rushed to the well of the House when Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary declined to revoke the suspension orders.
