Biman: Mamata rally an agenda of violence
A war of words has ensued between the ruling CPI(M) and the Trinamul Congress over holding rallies in the strife-torn Lalgarh belt. Left Front chairman Biman Bose on Sunday strongly criticised Trinamul Congress chief Mamata Banerjee’s proposed two-day visit in Lalgarh on October 5 and 6. Taking potshots at Ms Banerjee on her proposed rally, Mr Bose said that this was nothing but a part of her agenda to spread violence and unrest in the region.
“From the hills to the Jangalmahal wherever she goes, she carries the message to spread anarchy. So her upcoming visit to West Midnapore will be no exception. The meeting of the Trinamul Congress at West Midnapore on October 6 is only an extended part of their agenda of spreading violence and unrest,” Mr Bose said. It maybe noted that in her bid to scuttle “the re-capturing drama as being enacted by the ruling Marxist party in the Jangalmahal region,” Ms Banerjee has declared to hold a rally at West Midnapore. This rally, according to her, is “an answer to chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee’s ‘re-entry rally’ at Lalgarh on Saturday.” Ms Banerjee has also ridiculed the Left Front rally at West Midnapore, saying: “They do not have the guts to hold a rally at (Maoist-affected) Lalgarh.”
Reacting to Ms Banerjee’s bantering of the chief minister’s rally, Mr Bose said: “The rally organised by the Left Front was so big that it was impossible to organise it at Lalgarh. On the other hand, the Trinamul Congress rally at Lalgarh on August 9 was not big at all. Most of the people in the rally were outsiders from other districts of the state. There was no active participation from the locals of Lalgarh.”
He also pointed out Ms Banerjee took 1,000 railway protection force personnel with her in Lalgarh.
