Biometric attendence system for sanitation staff
Visakhapatnam: The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation is all set to introduce biometric attendance system for sanitation workers from Monday.
Initially, the system would be implemented in two wards on a pilot basis for 15 days. Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana made a PowerPoint presentation to the officials on the functioning of the biometric system here on Saturday. The new system, he said, will help in curtailing irregularities and many other problems regarding attendance and payment of wages.
Officials suggested that the machines have to be arranged at the muster points only. The commissioner said the system will be implemented in other wings of the corporation if found successful.
Additional commissioner M. Janaki said the system proved successful when implemented in Guntur. municipal corporation. Other additional commissioners Nagendra Kumar, Purnachandra Rao and chief medical officer Dr P.V. Ramana Murthy were present.
