BJP ad depicts CM as Krishna
Evoking sharp criticism from the Opposition, an advertisement has been published in a vernacular newspaper on Friday depicting Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi as Lord Krishna and other senior BJP leaders as the Pandavas. The advertisement by the BJP’s Amreli district unit is part of the BJP’s promotion of kishan yatra.
While the Congress alleged that the Gujarat CM is resorting to this practice to win elections, which are scheduled by the end of this year, the BJP remained unfazed by the criticism.
“Narendra Modi is merely fooling people. He is only doing this to win the elections. He has portrayed himself as Krishna now... next he will become Ram, Rahim... He will do something or other,” said Congress leader Narhari Amin.
The advertisement also showed state BJP president R.C. Faldu as Arjun and party leaders Vijay Rupani, Purshottam Rupala and I.K. Jadeja as the Pandavas.
However, rubbishing the Opposition’s criticism, senior BJP leader and finance minister Vajubhai Vala said, “Those who want to protest can protest. When an elephant passes by there are always those who bark. Let them bark. We have been doing our work for the people and will keep doing so.”
The BJP claimed that the yatra is aimed at creating awareness among the farmers of Saurasthra region.
