BJP assures Andhra team on T-issue
The BJP on Tuesday assured a delegation of its leaders from Andhra Pradesh that it will raise the issue of a separate Telangana state in the Monsoon Session of Parliament, even as Union home minister P. Chidambaram said that political parties in Andhra Pradesh must help the Centre find a solution to the issue. Mr Chidambaram told news agencies that political parties are divided on the issue and a solution cannot be “thrust down their throats”.
The BJP delegation was led by senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya and national secretary K. Laxman.
The delegation met BJP chief Nitin Gadkari and parliamentary party chairman L.K. Advani to discuss the issue. The delegation told Mr Gadkari and Mr Advani that the Congress-led UPA has betrayed the people of the region.
The delegation is expected to meet Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj and NDA convenor Sharad Yadav on Wednesday on the same issue.
Meanwhile, the BJP-led NDA, which held a meeting on Tuesday, decided that it will also raise the 2G spectrum allocation issue in the upcoming session of Parliament.
