BJP board to be re-tailored for Modi fit
Bowing to pressure from its cadre, the BJP is now working rapidly to officially bring Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi into the central organisation. BJP chief Rajnath Singh is expected to reconstitute the party’s highest decision-making body, the parliamentary board — and bring Mr Modi into it.
The Gujarat CM is also expected to head the party’s campaign committee for the 2014 general election. Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan is also likely to be nominated to the BJP parliamentary board.
The BJP president asked delegates at the national council meeting, , including the BJP brass, to give Mr Modi a standing ovation for winning Gujarat three consecutive times. In the BJP, the tone is set for paving the way for Mr Modi to be its candidate for PM. All the contenders, ranging from Mr L.K. Advani (old guard) to Ms Sushma Swaraj, are reconciled to the fact that “it’s time for Modi”, sources said.
