BJP denies internal rift over CVC

Denying any difference of opinion between both Leaders of the Opposition-Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley over Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s recent statement on P.J. Thomas’s appointment as the Central Vigilence Commissioner(CVC), the BJP on Monday said it will seek clarifications in the Rajya Sabha from Prime Minister on

his accepting error in appointing Mr Thomas. Describing Dr Singh’s Monday’s statement in Lok Sabha as “reading calender of events” relating to Mr Thomas’s appointment, the party claimed it will ask how the Prime Minister would convert his “responsibility into accountability.” Sources said the issue also came up for discussion on Monday during the meeting of both the leaders of the Opposition and BJP parliamentary party chairman L.K. Advani.
“There is no difference of opinion between the Leaders of the Opposition in the two Houses,” deputy leader in Rajya Sabha, S.S. Ahluwalia said. The senior BJP leader, citing parliamentary procedures, said clarifications to a statement can only be sought in the Upper House and not in the Lok Sabha and the party will use the opportunity.
While Ms Swaraj had said PM’s clarification in Jammu over Mr Thomas’s appointment was “enough” and wanted the matter to “rest”, Mr Jaitley had demanded more explanation from the PM. Dr Singh had said in Jammu that he accepted his responsibility over Mr Thomas’s appointment. The appointment was quashed by the Supreme Court last week. Mr Jaitley had also sought to know whether the Prime Minister was misled or chose to mislead on appointment of Mr Thomas as the CVC. Mr Ahluwalia however, claimed there were no differences within BJP on the issue. “In her tweet, Swaraj had never said the Parliament will not debate this issue.... This analysis of ‘error of judgement’ cannot be done in the Lok Sabha,” Mr Ahluwalia said.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
