BJP: Ex-CJI must clarify his stand
The BJP on Wednesday described as “shocking” the controversy over former Union minister A. Raja allegedly trying to influence a Madras high court judge in a criminal case and wanted former Chief Justice of India, Justice K.G. Balakrishnan to explain his stand on the issue. The party also alleged that CBI raids in 2G spectrum scam
were “too little, too late.” The CPI(M) also said the CBI’s nationwide searches on the premises of those allegedly involved in the 2G spectrum scam was a “belated” act and demanded a JPC probe into the issue.
BJP national spokesperson Mr Prakash Javadekar said “It is shocking. Only the ex-CJI can explain his stand. We will react only after he issues some kind of a statement.”
Reacting to the statements issued by former CJI, eminent lawyer and Rajya Sabha MP Ram Jethmalani said Justice Balakrishnan should avoid giving “rash and irresponsible” statements on the issue.
