BJP ex-MLA to join JD-U?
Amarnath Gami, BJP MLA from Hayaghat in northern Darbhanga district who was suspended from the party on Sunday for anti-party activities, is widely speculated to be set to join the ruling JD(U). Mr Gami hinted as much when he said on the possibility: “Let us see what happens in the next few days.” Soon after the BJP’s split from the JD(U), Bihar’s BJP leadership had openly accused the JD(U) of trying to poach BJP legislators. JD(U) leaders, however, denied any such efforts then and now.
BJP sources said at least seven “rebel” MLAs, including Mr Vijay Mishra, Mr Shashi Hazari and Mr Rana Ganeshwar, were likely to join the JD(U) along with Mr Gami. These legislators reportedly feel being under Mr Nitish Kumar’s leadership would provide them greater electoral advantage in Bihar than being under Mr Narendra Modi’s.
