BJP: Govt has taken supari
BJP national spokesperson and MP Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Friday said that the UPA has taken “supari” (contract) from the inflation mafia and multinational companies to hike prices of petroleum products.
Lashing out at the Congress-led UPA government’s “anti-people policies”, the BJP spokesperson said that the UPA government is more concerned about addressing the concerns of foreign companies and credit-rating agencies. He further remarked that the UPA government believes that the people have given them the mandate to indulge in more corruption and raise prices.
Mr Naqvi announced that the BJP will launch a week-long nationwide agitation against the diesel, LPG price hike from September 17. “The party will chalk out a more aggressive nationwide agitation plan on price hike and scams of the UPA at its three-day national executive and national council meeting to be held in Haryana from September 26,” he said.
However, the BJP was not just targeting the UPA government, but also Mr Rahul Gandhi for keeping quiet over the price hike. “Mr Gandhi is seen doing photo sessions in some poor man’s hut or in the fields of a farmer, but he is silent when the nation is confronted with burning issues like price rise and scandals,” Mr Naqvi said.
Commenting on the UPA allies expressing displeasure over the hike and their demand for a rollback, he said that the UPA allies, instead of indulging in mere token opposition for the sake of it is not enough.
He added that the UPA allies should realise that the UPA government is a sinking ship and that they need to consider withdrawing their support altogether.

‘Ananda Margis killed Mishra’
Age Correspondent
New Delhi, Sept. 14
During the proceeding of the final argument in the assassination of former railway minister L.N. Mishra, the Central Bureau of Investigation told a city court he was killed in order to pressure the Bihar government to release the founder of Anand Marga organisation.
According to special public prosecutor N.K. Sharma, Mishra had strong influence over the Bihar government and was hindering the release of their guru, arrested in a murder case.
Mr Sharma told the court that, “Some time after July 1974, there was a decision (of revolutionary group of Ananda Margis) to kill L.N. Mishra as he was considered to be the most important minister at the Centre and had influence over the state (Bihar) government.”
He said the objective of the Ananda Marga was to put pressure on the government to release Ananda Marga founder Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar.
