BJP hits out at tagging
The BJP on Sunday strongly condemned the incident of Indian students reportedly being radio-tagged by the US authorities as part of electronic surveillance.
Reacting on the issue, party national spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said, “The students are being put through absolute inhuman treatment. They are not cattle in a ranch to be given an electronic gadget to be collared and to be monitored every minute of their stay there after being legal visitors...violates their human and fundamental rights...we condemn this.” “The ministry of external affairs will have to be more assertive in making sure that the students are not denied justice in any way,” BJP spokesperson Ms Sitharaman said.
Video footage surfaced from Tri-Valley University campus suggesting Indian students were being radio-tagged as part of electronic surveillance by US immigration authorities. The university is engulfed in an immigration scam.
Ms Sitharaman maintained that the BJP was very concerned about the state of affairs and the condition of Indian students, who for no fault of theirs, had enrolled in a university which apparently was registered by law in the US.
