BJP, Left, SP plan to corner govt
In an effort to build pressure on the government on corruption issues, including financial irregularities in Commonwealth Games and Adarsh Housing Society scam, during the Winter Session of Parliament, the main Opposition BJP held talks with Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Left parties. For an effective floor coordination on the corruption issue among the Opposition parties, BJP is also likely to talk to parliamentary party leaders of other Opposition parties.
Sources in the BJP said Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj recently held talks with SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and CPI(M) leader Basudev Acharya in this regard. Ms Swaraj is likely to meet these two leaders as well as leaders of other Opposition parties on November 8. The Winter Session of Parliament is beginning from November 9, a day after US President Barack Obama addresses the Indian parliamentarians.
The BJP had already said that it will take up corruption issues in Parliament. The party had demanded sacking of CWG organising committee chief Suresh Kalmadi as well as central ministers whose ministries were involved in the CWG preparations.
